>And yet he scratched only the surface, including the means for humankind to obliterate itself several times over.

But how much deeper have we scratched in the fifty years hence because of him?

Six hundred years ago we thought that the world was flat, that the sun revolved around the earth, and that frogs were formed from dust.

Three hundred years ago we burned people for being witches.

One hundred fifty years ago we had no electricity and no cars.

Sixty years ago we didn't know a thing about DNA.

Twenty years ago I didn't have a microwave.

We've come a long way in a very short time, and we're going to go further, faster.

If anything, religion's held us back. Just ask Galileo.
