Having US troops on the Iran-Iraq border and the Afghanistan-Iran border seems smarter and smarter, the more we learn about Al Qaida in Iran.

There are lots of theoretical benefits to America from occupying Iraq and, or, Afghanistan but that doesn't mean that theory and practice will converge. With respect to our troops on the borders, I'm not convinced that they will ever be any match for the smugglers and natives who've been breaching those borders with impunity for centuries.

In fact, I wouldn't spend one American life to have those troops on those borders to try to stop the movement of Al Queda between Iran and Afghanistan?Iraq. Would you?
