Let's face it. The front line security is looking for a needle in the haystack. So far it is 20 people out of a billion. Timothy McVey and the Unabomber are 2 people out of 50 million.

Racial profiling (forget about it being unfair) is probably dangerous. I am sure terrorists will be able to get around simple profiles. Would it be impossible for them to brainwash an Ann Coulter lookalike ("Islamic Candidate") to achieve their objectives?

If you are a policy maker, you have to be able to make policy. You can't be like Ann Coulter and lob her version of a bomb against her shallow definition of who her enemies are. You can't leave it to the discretion of security forces to project their own definition of terrorists. It will not be effective. It will cause more problems than it solves.

Some of George Bush family's best friends are Arab Muslims (Saudi to be exact) and I think that is terrific.

My main point however is that being fair, doing the right thing, and being effective are not mutually exclusive.

Doing what Ann Coulter is suggesting (if its possible to put her hatred into some policy format) would be a recipe for disaster.
