Miscellaneous Comments About Country Risks.
1. I learned something valuable today from a venture capital insider. He told me that in France if you start a company and it goes bankrupt then you are not allowed ever again to start a company. Almost the opposite is true in most countries. Failure can be a great teacher. I'm going to ditch my French investments. There's no future for such a country.
2. A Chinese friend and I were discussing why China advances faster than India, technologically. He attributed this to the Indian religiousity which makes a majority of Indians think that either there will be a heaven which will make this life irrelevant or else there will be reincarnation. In either case you don't have to throw the last bit of your attention to a new business right now, in this life. Chinese people, on the other hand, don't usually take religion seriously. You are given just one chance, so you must concentrate all your efforts and succeed.
