Abgenix names Ringo as new president, CEO Tuesday July 20, 5:13 pm ET LOS ANGELES, July 20 (Reuters) - Biopharmaceutical company Abgenix Inc. (NasdaqNM:ABGX - News) on Tuesday said it has named William R. Ringo as its new president and chief executive officer replacing Ray Withy who is stepping down as of August 30. "Abgenix has made significant progress in its evolution into a product development company and the time is now right to bring a new leader into the company with strong operating, marketing and commercialization experience," Chairman R. Scott Greer said in a statement. Ringo will sit on the board of directors, and Withy will continue as a board member of the Fremont, California company.
