Just wait 'til every Rep feels the need to sponsor a Bill and have it passed so they can justify themselves to their constituencies. We've got more than enough laws right now, thank you.

Most of the heavy lifting is done in committees. Floor speeches are just a way to ham it up for C-SPAN's camera, and most bills are voted on more as a formality than anything else. But I'd just as soon keep the number down. Think of the "Patriot Act" that no one seems to have read before voting on it. Even if some vigilant rep from Nowhere, Nebraska spots a similar bogey buried in some innocuous legislation, who will listen?

We do have the kind of representation you want. It's your state legislature. Most voters aren't even aware of its existence.
