Supreme Court appointees are crucial .....

..... I have always maintained that voting Republican is sanctioning the stupidity of Republican-type appointees dating back to Roe v. Wade. Ever since then, Republican appointees have been very carefully selected for their right wing tendencies. "Litmus tests," like appointees' positions on issues such as abortion, take priority.

Reagan, with a fine touch, reshaped the federal judiciary over the course of two, long terms in office. It is now a mess based on intellectual lightweights who pass right-wing litmus tests dominating the judiciary.

Clowns like bush have to be prevented from making too many appointments to the federal judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court. Jerks like Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas rule the day.

Thank God that Gerald Ford didn't abuse his privilege when he appointed Stevens to the Court. Seriously, he's one of only two decent Republican nominees to the Supreme Court since Eisenhower. Ironically, Harry Blackmun, a Nixon appointee, wrote Roe v. Wade. Blackmun really surprised everyone by taking his Supreme Court position very seriously. It made a bit of liberal out of him. So much so that he and his childhood friend, Warren Burger, quit talking to each other while they were on the Court.

Yes, the issue of the Supreme Court is one that makes voting for a Democrat paramount. People who like to think they're independent are nuts. A vote for a Republican candidate for president is one that supports the hideous tendencies of Republican presidents to be pressured by seriously right-wing support groups to demand that nominees pass "litmus tests."

You can take the Republican Party and shove it.
