Kerry released a statement saying: "Sandy Berger is my friend, and he has tirelessly served this nation with honor and distinction. I respect his decision to step aside as an adviser to the campaign until this matter is resolved objectively and fairly."

I take it Kerry is suggesting Berger may come back. It ain't gonna happen, but Kerry must be quite afraid of something when he doesn't use his first statement to try to put some space between himself and the problem .

Some dirt is hard to wash out. If Berger is close enough, (and why wouldn't he be?) Kerry may not be able to disown him. Kerry's history of loyalty to dirty tricks players is intact. Kerry's brother has continued to work for him even after demolishing his first run at Congress by getting caught breaking into Kerry's opponent's campaign HQ.

The soon to be released historical documentary "Eclipsed by the Sun" highlights the history of Kerry campaign shenanigans.
Seen against the Sandy Berger backdrop, this film is sure to be a winner.
