The rattlesnakes are no problem....there's nothing there (mice, etc) for them to live on. I've only seen a couple in all of my travels. However, it's the scorpions you need to watch out for. One time...we took a portable black light out with us camping....Eeek! Moral of this story: Never, ever, don't ever put your shoes or clothes on without shaking them...if they've been on the ground....The desert is alive...at night.
