This board has had numerous posts that assault George W. Bush in many ways. What I would like to do is try to address specific charges and see how they may or may not be true. This should be fun! 1. Bush is Stupid: How this can be true is beyond me. I have long since learned - not a baby anymore - that two smart people can look at the same facts and draw opposite conclusions. When people draw different conclusions than I do I do not claim they are stupid. When you hate - it is an excuse to claim stupidity. 2. Bush Ruined the Legacy of the Clinton Economy: This one is hilarious. To the extent it is charged it is the case of being offensive to avoid defense. Bush inherited an imploding bubble that was compounded by 9/11. The roots of 9/11 lie in history - specifically in the Clinton administration. Sandy Berger's recent exercise shows the laughable aspects of the Clinton presidency. 3. Bush Tax Cuts Caused the Deficit: Holy bat feathers this is more idiocy. The deficit was caused by the recession. This country cannot tolerate a serious recession. Bush's tax cuts - and deficit spending - made the recession shallow. How we go forward is what counts. 4. Bush is Not a Good Leader: Bush has surrounded himself with quality people. Compare his crew to Clinton's. Good leaders surround themselves with good people and delegate. In secure leaders keep everything to themselves. 5. Bush Lied About WMDs: The whole world thought Sadam had WMDs. The real question is where did they go. The whole issue of liar is now becoming laughable with the current revelations about Sandy Berger and Joe Wilson. One could ask why kerry kept on a person who stole government documents - what did kerry know and when did he know it? 6. Bush is a Big Spender: Boy do I agree with that. He has pandered to too many groups to try to be a nice guy. Can anyone believe Algore would have stood up to the farm bill and other extravaganzas. One of his biggest budget busters is drugs for the elderly. Wow - does anyone think that is not a good idea and that it would be expensive. 7. Bush is a Divider: The root of this lies in the Florida election. Going into the 2000 election the dems sprung the DUI charge at the last minute. That made the election close. Recently the left blew away Jack Ryan in Illinois. If the election had not been so close this situation would not have existed. Frankly, big city dems have been manipulating elections for years. IMO they simply could not believe they were not able to game the system in a close election. 8. Bush Tax Cuts are for the Top 1%: This is a blatant democratic lie. Our family is not in the top 1% and we have several hundreds more per month as a result of the Bush tax cuts. 9. Bush is Anti Black: What BS this is. Look at his cabinet. Why should he address the NAACP. They have discredited themselves as prostitutes for the dem left. Many blacks want vouchers to escape inner city schools. The NAACP toes the dem line in total disregard for their constituency. When will blacks and other minorities wake up. 10. Bush Wants to Trash the Environment: The left has used environmental legislation for both good and bad. Clearly the concept as good. The extreme use of it for MIMBY is simply not good for America. ANWR is a perfect example. Thousands of high paid construction jobs would be provided by drilling ANWAR - if there is oil there. When will the unions wake up? 11. Bush Tolerates Corporate Corruption: What a joke this is. The corruption occurred during the feel good anything goes preisdency of Bill Clinton. The prosecutions are being made under the Bush administrations. 12. Al Gore Won the Election: We have discussed this ad nauseum. The recounts show he did not. Frankly it is impossible to know who won. The methods in place are insufficiently accurate to know. In retrospect - having seen Algore the last year - does anyone possibly think he would have been better. I fully acknowledge the legitimacy of alternate ideas. I do not believe that our economy would be better without the Bush tax cuts. I do not believe that being nice to terrorists will make them go away. I do believe we need medical insurance reform. I do believe we need Tort reform. I do believe we need a national energy policy. The key issues need debate. The kerry left are focused on items 1 - 12 above. What do they have to offer to resolve our problems. Anyway - you can say there are different policies that are better. When you say they are better you need to say why and how they would have worked in the aftermath of the market bubble burst and 9/11. The attempts to show how other policies would have worked better are awaited. Bob
