Michael, RE: "What's your definition of "overdue?" When you see someone standing around for long periods of time, followed by hearing a few dozen choice curses. Repeatedly too. And when the status of what's wrong exceeds the cost to replace. Whether it's a replacement or upgrade, depends upon the department (accounting gets replacements, engineering gets upgrades.) Sounds like you are focused on large to mid-size firms. I think the smaller firms suffered austerity a bit more than the larger firms. RE: "As I'm currently looking for new projects, I'm in the unusual situation of being able to check out many companies." Let us know what you see in terms of upgrade and replacement cycles. RE: "Programming languages in 1968???" I actually didn't know. Had this vision of assembly (ugh). But a higher level language makes sense. Regards, Amy J
