The volatility is simply amazing... But it has been One-Way volatility...always down. And FWIW, I don't think this market downdraft(for lack of a better word) is being cause by shorts, but primarily by programmed trading. I have seen numbers that put program trading at 50-60% of all trades on the NYSE.....that is by far an historical record.....and a bit scary IMO.
