As for the urinating contest, human nature is unchanging, that's why they call it human nature.

But let me characterize it in a way you may find more palatable. We should select our presidents on the basis of their ability to bring a team of competent individuals into the White House with them.

One of the bizarre things about changing presidential administrations is that the new administration comes in cold, there are empty chairs and empty desks in all the offices of political appointees, not even a Rolodex, and they start from scratch. (The support staff doesn't change, of course.)

So, we're better off electing people who have competent people working for them who know the ropes already.

Kerry just admitted to not having a clue that his potential Secretary of State was under criminal investigation. That ought to give anybody pause.
