Angela, thanks. I remember my reaction to the WSJ Kurlak piece...

I try not to be emotional re: analysis/trading, but when I picked up the WSJ that day and saw the topic of the "Heard on the Street" column was Kurlak...

...I allowed myself the sin of cracking a slight smile...

...and a few soft utterances of "yes! yes! yes! finally!..."

...which then moved into some major-league fist-pumping...

...which then lead to cranking up Superchunk's "Shallow End" WAY too early and WAY too loud...

I don't think Mac McCaughan wrote it w/ overhyped Wall Street "talent" in mind, but it's somewhat germaine...

"Well you're barking out what you think
And you're drinking your expensive drinks
You're in your car and you're on the phone
Think you better follow that cord back home
Is that a pearl I'm supposed to keep
Cause you are putting me to sleep
Well I know you think you're deep alright
But you should stay in your shallow end..."

(and then you get the rest of "Incidental Music", which is an awesome CD and also includes their cover of The Magnetic Fields "100,000 Fireflies", IMHO possibly one of the greatest songs ever written)

And the guy's been continuing to "self-destruct" ever since, which is anything but funny given its effect on the small investor. MANY people who've been in semicons issues have been the victims of a Kurlaking.

Herb Greenberg had a great column on Kurlak's MU downgrade in the San Fran Chronicle last week:

Infrastruture's Carl Johnson also did a very thorough dismantling of his MU analysis last Friday:

Good trading,

Tom
