Rink: The perception that Intel can, almost at will, disrupt or even ruin the flash market for others and especially Spansion, is one of the major depressions on the AMD stock price. I don't think it is going away soon.

Spansion intends to become the No. 1 overall and to take share from the NAND market with MirrorBit. I have no idea how critical the economies of scale will be as between 90 nm and 110 nm for Intel and Spansion respectively. Presumably 90 nm will help Intel improve margins or, alternatively, lower prices.

From Hector's comments over three quarters CC I think AMD knows what the challenge is and his Spansion man sounds very confident when he says his products, prices and services will knock Intel back.

Actually I would like the monkey off AMD's back. I would like to see its involvement in flash reduced so that it represents no more than 25% of its revenue. It could do this by selling some or all of its share of Spansion to Fujitsu or A.N.Other.
