Back when 9/11 happened, Bush made it very clear that he was going to go after terrorism and its sponsers wherever it may lie. He was specific that it wasn't only OBL that he was going to go after. I believe that Bush made a mistake in tying Iraq to OBL when the case could be made on its own merits. There are numerous democratic congress critters and the previous democratic president who considered Iraq an imminent threat...that is, up until Bush took action. That tells me that the opposition to the action in Iraq is strictly partisan bullshit. There is no question that Iraq sponsored terrorism. If nothing else, iraq was a safe harbor and Saddam was giving money to the families of terrorists in Israel.

But I agree with you, the terrorists won't have a change of heart with a party change in the whitehouse. The question will be whether or not we are better able to defend ourselves with liberal policy changes.

If there is another attack on american soil, I have no doubts that it will change the outcome of the election. In kerry's favor. Just as there is no doubt in my mind that if OBL is produced in american custody, it will swing the elections in favor of bush. It would seem that a terrorist act relatively near the elections (within months), would be an effective way to affect change to american policy. The divide between political ideologies in america has to be obvious to the rest of the world. It also has to be obvious that each side is very much into blaming the other, regardless of responsibility (blaming bush for 9/11 when he was relatively new to office and the plan was in the works years before Bush entered office, is a good example).

the philosophy that I suggested is nothing new. It is simply "do not do what your enemy wants you to do". I think that this is a basic concept in "The Art of War".

If OBL is the enemy and he wants me to vote for Kerry, then I should not vote for Kerry. Of course, this ignores a bunch of other very important issues, not least of which is the economy.
