That's a good thing, right?
If you're a Democrat that likes to make specious arguments, maybe.

Was it also a good thing when GDP growth went negative in the 3rd quarter of 2000? Do you cheer Presidents who leave messes behind for their successors to clean up? You must really love Herbert Hoover then, right?

LBJ must be a real hero of yours. He REALLY left a mess behind.

So tell me: Do you honestly believe that a President is solely responsible for the performance of the economy during his term or is this simply a partisan debating point you wish to push? In those cases where it will help your party, of course.

Here, let's try this one from the NBER (the guys who assign to official dates to economic expansions and contractions):
According to the chronology, the most recent peak occurred in March 2001, ending a record-long expansion that began in 1991.

So your theory is that IN ALL OF TWO MONTHS, GWB was able to bring to a screechong halt the longest period of economic expansion in US history???

There's another interesting fact in that data: the "Clinton expansion" started George Bush 41's watch, NOT Clinton's watch.

So by your reckoning (blaming Bush for a decline that started during Clinton's term), GB 41 must be given that credit for the '90s boom.
