Actually add to that a surge in exports of raw lumber to Asian countries where they mill it themselves with the usual reduced labour cost... I don't think lumber needs be that local either...

Interesting relationship here between the US and Canada
for sawn lumber Canada is a huge exporter south.. endgame.org
but for raw logs a different story ... endgame.org
