The Gospel of Tim Luke

Foreword
Message 20343335

The Crowd

Tim Luke was a member of our community.
Tim Luke's last post on SI was made in the early hours of the morning on July 25, 2002.
Tim Luke Stefanich was fatally shot while attempting to rob a Beverly Hills jewelry store twelve hours later.
I had a difficult time making the decision to write about Tim.
Tim's detractors would not want any glitter on his mail, no banners waving in the sun, and they remind us that he died in the commission of a felony.
Tim's friends want to see that Tim is remembered well, not for his dying but for his living, they acknowledge Tim as part of this community and understand his contributions.
As I ponder the fate of this "young man" I remember my feelings on hearing of his end, diminished, Tim's tale is necessarily wrought of moonlight and dark water.
This type of writing is difficult because no one ever stops existing in our community, they continue as a memory, shared, unique, each reader, each writer, a part of the story.
