I did not know Tim well but that is something I could say of every last member of the community. I don't know anyone really, just myself, and I don't doubt that Tim Luke knew himself.
Tim ended up with fast friends and loyal readers because he cared for them and he cared for the community. Caring for the community is a powerful motive in the new land. The perception of who this community is can be very difficult to clarify at times. Our view of Tim's life and demise in our land will in many ways be bound to our sense of community. I would not idly attest to the fact that Tim cared about the community. In a lot of his battles Tim was motivated by exactly that, it wasn't always the case but is it always the case for any of us ?
