Passing in the Night

Drums

Daine Newman is just another profile, just another person. The colour of the story is fashioned from the words therein, you cannot shape the colour of the clay. It takes just a moment to confirm that Daine's profile ends on another scarred battlefield where trust was ambushed and slain. Daine will make his last post on July 25, 2002 at 10:59AM, just hours before Tim Luke will end up on the floor in the Mirage Jewellery store. The question that will mark the end of Daine's short career here on SI is one that every reader has a good chance of answering correctly, and few need ever ask.
How do you spell desparation? despairation? disperation?

When I first read Daine's post I wondered if Tim might have dared a similar question, we will never know.
Daine Newman didn't make a lot of posts to SI, only 66, and the 21 that are still accessible in his profile all focus on the same sad stock, FTEL. At first glimpse there is little of value in this story, but then value is always in the details.
