Real returns

The value that people see in the owning and trading equities has diminished with each new revelation of broad malfeasance, and there have been many. The rules are changing but it isn't happening quickly. Publicly listed corporations are going to have to realize that investors are not content. The trust basis which has functioned as the cornerstone of the market has been seriously damaged and attempts to repair that trust are falling on unhearing, no, uncaring ears. I ask myself a couple of questions, to what extent do I trust the management of publicly listed companies ? Do I trust the auditors ? My answers may be incorrect but they are my answers. I expect that we are going to see some fundamental changes in the way that investors approach equities. I will venture that real returns are going to be far more important in the future, not words, not auditor reports. Investors really aren't thriving, (community members who listened to Mr. Pink last year and bought all those oil stocks he so wisely recommended are exempt from this general observation) and this is evident in our land, politics, religion, war, everything but Enron. The fact that people would rather talk about politics right now has not gone unnoticed. The sphere in which we hold discussions is going to change and the new country will be much more focused.
