You are comparing as equals a common citizen and those who are in the position to decide public policy. They aren't equal.

Those who are in a position to impact public policy will be held responsible for their decisions by the voting public. If they don't like what they see, they will vote for someone else. People vote their self interest all the time. That is the American way.

You are laboring under the misconception that anyone cares what YOU think. Bush knows who his base is, the haves and the have mores. If you try to present that he is pro working class or poor, you just lose credibility. Not that YOU have any in the first place.
