That isn't really spelled out. The delegates being bound absolutely to a candidate is pretty new. At some point, however, the delegates will have to vote on their own, and not necessarily any of the available candidates. And that would get real unpleasant, real fast...


Then we could be in big trouble. Are you sure? I know that the electoral college was not as well thought out as it should have been but I would be surprised if there were not a provision to cover the eventuality that neither candidate gets a majority. I think that's a very real possibility this year.

I suspect in that particular case, that would be the last time we would have an Electorial College. There would be interesting reprecussions on Congress too...

We can only hope.
