<<My speculation of what was happening is certainly not framed as speculation, >>

The first thing this illustrates is your willingness to state something as a fact when you don't have any idea if it's a fact, how willing you are to talk out of your ass.

Second, if Bush stayed in the room with the children for those 7 minutes to allow the SS to provide for his safe route out of the school, why didn't he leave for another 30 minutes?

When Bush left the classroom, he tried to contact the Vice President, tried to find out what was going on, etc. Why did he wait 7 minutes to get in the loop? It obviously wasn't to allow his route to be secured and it wasn't to protect the children.

About 9:30 a.m. - still in the school and still on his original schedule - Bush stood before students, teachers and others and told them the nation had been the target of an "apparent terrorist attack."

It seems pretty clear that there was a lot of confusion and a lot of people were confused about what to do. But that's where leaders step up to the plate: Giuliani stepped up, Rumsfield stepped up. But George Bush sat in a classroom reading a book waiting for someone to tell him what the President of the United States is supposed do in that situation.

I just don't see how you can spin it any other way.
