Assuming that the global warming is due to something other than emission of greenhouse gasses, destruction of ozone layer, changes in the marine ecosystem, and so on (and this is a very big assumption which I do not agree with), but even assuming all that, we still need to do our part to counter the effects of global warming (due to the mystery cause).

Here is an analogy to illustrate it better. Suppose I get liver disease due to exposure to some factory chemicals. Now even though my liver was not damaged due to drinking, I should still stop my alcohol intake. To keep on drinking with the excuse that it was not liquor that ruined my liver would be very foolish, not to mention suicidal.
