Hi appro - That's the nice thing about jazz. Once you start wading into the 30's and 40's, you'll realize that you can make new discoveries all the time. And then there are the names that are familiar, but you never really listened to their music. I recently picked up my first Benny Carter CD's - one of them a great Sarah Vaughan recording - and was amazed at how great he was, yet he's not a name I'd readily come up with when I think of some of the greatest band leaders. Most impressively, he was a major figure from the 20's into the 90's and he just died last year.
