Yes, Kerry should be (and repeatedly has been) acknowledged and thanked for his service as many thousands also served. As to presidential qualifications, his service matters far less than his public life after Vietnam, his voting record and policy stand(s). My plumber also served in Vietnam but I don't think that uniquely qualifies him to be president--MK--
