Everyone:

We are at a point in the development cycle where we are asking for your assistance in compiling a list of functions and features still needed on the new SI site. Initially, there will be two categories of entries:

1) Features that are critical for the Development site to be sufficiently functional to become the SI "Production" site in the event something catastrophic happens to the current site; and
2) Features that fall in the "nice to have but not absolutely critical" category, but are still part of the heritage feature set.

The goal is to get the “critical” features implemented and tested as soon as possible. The secondary feature list will receive lower priority, except for those items which can be implemented quickly or in connection with a feature being developed in the critical group.

In order to keep members apprised of milestones and more importantly to minimize repetition, we have created a Member version of our internal Project Manager tool. Members can view the Project Queue entries that are classified as “Pre-GoLive Dev” or “Post-GoLive Dev”. The URL for the Project Queue dev.siliconinvestor.com and will be included in the header of the New SI Interface Discussion (#subject-54574).

Members can also view completed tasks by clearing the “Hide Closed Projects?” check box at the top of the Project Queue, and then clicking Refresh. If additional details or comments have been entered for a particular issue, they can be seen by clicking on the project number in the far left column of the queue. Example: dev.siliconinvestor.com

As members post their suggestions/issues on #subject-54574, one of us will create a task in the Project Queue, or possible combine it with an existing entry. Some entries will describe missing features, while others may address the functionality of existing features, and others may address errors or unexpected results that users are experiencing. Please check to see if your suggestion or issue already exists in the queue before posting it to the discussion thread. We’ll endeavor to keep the queue as current as possible.

At a later date we will extend member access to include entries for new features that are planned but not yet coded for the new site. For example, there will be extensive capabilities for user-defined attributes for colors, fonts, element spacing and positioning, sorting orders, etc. However, most of that functionality will not be coded until after we make the switch to the new site and all core features are implemented and stable.

Reminder: Most user changes posted through the Development site are not permanent, and are overwritten or deleted with each new update from the Production site. This includes public and private messages, changes made to PeopleMarks, SubjectMarks, thread titles and headers, and ban lists, etc. However, changes made to User Options and Account Information at the Development site are permanent.

A special invitation of those of you who like to edit URLs in search of the pot ‘o gold at the end of the rainbow: You are encouraged to explore potential exploits and, of course, report them. However, if you find an exploit please report it to me via PM on the Production site. Examples would include seeing if you can remove someone else's PeopleMarks or SubjectMarks, or editing a post after the edit window has expired.

Thank you for your patience and participation as we enter the home stretch towards activating the new SI site.
