Hi, Michael.

I was wondering where you might be hiding. vbg

I have said from day One, when the Dems looked like they were going to commit seppuku by nominating Dean, that the race will be incredibly close. I stand by that.

The Dems got a grip on themselves, ditched Dean, put aside a lot of their differences, and will apparently not be stupid enough to aggressively go after Bush they way the more loonier members of their party would like to, though they are taking a huge risk IMO by letting Sharpton speak. He will turn off a lot of the undecided.

I suspect that you think Kerry may win because like most Americans you are being bombarded by the media reports concerning the convention. The GOP will also have a convention, and I suspect we might see a GOP upsurge which might make you think otherwise.

It is very intersting that Kerry is getting very little polling upside from all the media attention. The figures I've seen suggest that the convention has thus far not given him the boost he needs or expected. Of course, the convention is not over, so we'll see.

I think we need to keep our eye on the ball. Thus far, the Dem convention has been a media bust. According to Drudge, the ratings are very poor despite the fact that the Dem heavyweights (both Clintons, Carter, and Gore) have made their speeches. They are having an effective, but relatively unknown, speaker deliver the keynote address, which I think was a mistake. The electorate will likely pay very little attention to him.
