>> I'm happy using my EIDE Syjet as my boot device <<
Joe:
Would this have been possible with a SCSI syjet? I'm about to order one to go with my Texas Instruments Travelmate 5300, which has a docking station. My ideal setup would be to be able to boot as usual from the internal hard drive and from the A diskette drive as is usual, but in case of a major crash I would like to be able to boot from the Scsi Syjet, which would have my entire hard drive duplicated on it.
Presumably I would be able to boot from a diskette that would then let me switch to the Syjet? I can't *replace* the A diskette drive with the Syjet, because the Syjet is available only if the unit is docked, because the SCSI port is on the docking station.
Also, in the Syquest advertisements (in computer catalogs), I don't see anything significant about software: is software available that would back up a 1.09gb hard drive to the Syjet? I *think*, but am not sure, that the Microsoft Win95 Backup2 utility (2 indicating an update) still has a max 500mb limit.
I vaguely remember seeing some bad things about Syquest's tech support here; in your experience, would Syquest tech support be able to help me set all this up? Or, is the in-the-box documentation clear on such issues?
I'm interested both because I need *some* sort of backup, and because I've been considering a Syquest investment for several months, ever since I saw the rave PCMag reviews. But I missed the <$2.00 opportunity before the third quarter numbers came out.
