The issue isn't that it's the other side. The issue is that it's full of lies. No the issue is that it's full of truths, half truths and falsities, but the right of free speech and the obligations of a democratic society mean that we ALL get to sort through it and find our own "truths." Or do you think that the men and women we send in our name to kill and die for us are too simple, too young and too naive to sort the facts for themselves? Who better deserves to understand and benefit from all the views on why we should, or shouldn't be killing and dying in Iraq? Don't you think the "other side" is amply drilled into them by the psychological operations people who, in our name, fire them up with pro-war propaganda on all the reasons FOR the war? I still remember all the bullshit reasons the army gave me for why I was going to Vietnam. Why don't we get real and just admit that some war hawks don't want our young soldiers to hear any side but the side believed by those who think the deaths of those young men are justified. Those of us who think their deaths are useless, needless and wasted, feel differently. I say let them see all the views and understand all the issues. The truth isn't found in limiting the information that people hear; it's found in spirited debate and the engagement of many minds to argue and discuss the real issues. That's how it works best and that's what should be happening, especially among those who will have years to ponder the sacrifices THEY made and the lives THEY took in our names.
