Business Week issue 9/1 has a very positive article on Schmidt and Novell's outlook--THERE'S NO LOOKING BACK FOR ERIC SCHMIDT.

"Schmidt, 42, appears to be just what the doctor ordered."

"...he's weaning Novell from dependence on its core NetWare operating system and getting the company into the Internet game--fast."

"Schmidt has made no secret of the expected shortfall. Indeed, it's part of his plan to put Novell back on track."

Schmidt says: "If I'd known what shape the company was in, I might not have taken (the job)."

"Is the worst over? Schmidt thinks so."

Problem: Losses
Remedy: Layoffs and write-down.

Problem: NetWare losing sales.
Remedy: Net NetWare for '98 and Slitz to head marketing.
