No doubt there is lingering racism and anti-semitism in American society. There's nothing much you can do to change people's attitudes. It takes a long time and many generations. The important change that America has made is that we've taken institutionalized racism out of our society, and that's a big step forward. Institionalized racism gives racism a legitmacy and perpetuates racial problems. So, perhaps people's attitudes are slow to change in America, but American society as a whole has taken important steps to change policies that promote racial intollerance.
