US soldier killed, three wounded in Iraq TIKRIT, Iraq (AFP) - A US soldier was killed and three wounded when their convoy was attacked by a roadside bomb in the trouble hotspot of Balad Ruz, north of Baghdad, the US military said. The US soldiers were attached to the US 1st Infantry Division, which is based in Tikrit, the home town of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites). The attack happened while the troops were on patrol near Balad Ruz at 8:15 pm (1615 GMT) on Tuesday. More than 670 American troops have been killed since the launch of the US-led invasion of Iraq (news - web sites) in March 2003, based on Pentagon (news - web sites) figures.
