Sometimes in the past I have just jumped into something I knew nothing about, and because I was totally ignorant I was able to see things without prejudice. In this case, given the enormous acceleration of economic activity in Asia, where as far as I know there are not many forests to cut down unless it should be in Siberia, it seems to me that the demand for North American lumber could remain strong for a long time.

Today I bought a position in TimberWest, which exports douglas fir right off Vancouver island to Japan and elsewhere. Pays a better than 8% steady dividend through its "stapled" units (common/preferred/debenture). The stock itself is exactly where it was priced about two years ago.
