The reason Clinton's sexual peccadillos were relevant in the Jones case is that in order to recover damages, you must prove various things, including that the employer knew, or should have known, that sexual harassment was taking place.

Which, by the way, is not an easy thing to prove, unless you can get people to admit it, and that means finding people who may not want to talk unless under subpoena.
