My grandma is in the hospital right now, and while driving home my thoughts turned to the subject of death. Perhaps I'm the most morbid 17-year-old in Indiana, I don't know. Anyway, I came home and wrote this. It's unfinished, much like my own struggle with the concept my my loved ones' mortality as well as my own.

Untitled

The line is drawn
The battle waits
Death and I stand toe to toe

I'm just a pawn
To each our fates
The final victor, I don't know

To blows we come
I am undone
Death's power greater than my own

It drinks my soul
My strength to it
Takes my will as its own

How do I win?
Death steals my strength
The fear of it is all I know.

Make peace with death?
You are absurd!
A union with the darkness make?

.....

(point of reference: the last verse is absolutely NOT about satanism or the occult)
