Could you put a little flesh on that for me? How might "caving" play out in this scenario? I'm having trouble envisioning that. He can't pull out the troops or we would be humiliated. He can't not respond to any new attacks or he would be crucified. He might decide not to take affirmative action to blow Iran's reactor to smithereens, but then Bush doesn't seem inclined to do that, either. Could you paint me a potential picture to give me a flavor of what you mean by "caving"?

Well, Iraq's a slightly different case because we're already there. But Kerry can declare success, and begin pulling out...so we're humiliated, all the diplomats of Europe will approve the newfound nuance and moderation of the Kerry administration, and that's what matters, isn't it? And as for any new foreign policy action, only with international approval, which, surprise! won't be forthcoming. So the mullahs don't need to worry anymore that anyone might interfere with their bomb-making - clear sailing. But if Bush is reelected, who knows what the cowboy might do?

That's what I mean by caving. If America can only act with international approval, the cat has been well & truly belled. Bush and Kerry may both equally declare than an Iranian nuke is unacceptable. Doesn't matter. What do the mullahs think each man might do about it, that is the question.
