Again I think you misunderstand: toppling Saddam was NOT authorized by the UN resolution for the first Gulf War and Bush Senior should've ignored that once Saddam was in full retreat. I think you and I agree on that. Your further analogy to the Bay of Pigs disaster is one that I've used also and it was indeed a shameful betrayal. I guess we agree there, too.

Fwiw, I wouldn't dream of hiding behind the criminal UN (an organization I patently despise). There are people here that may hold it in some regard and it doesn't hurt to remind them that even the UN considered Saddam a serious threat to world peace--MK--
