Comb, re: To cut and run would make the sacrifices that our troops have made meaningless. And that would be criminal. We cannot make the same mistakes we made in Vietnam. Not only is it stupid, it is self-destructive. I heard the same arguments for year, after year, after year in Vietnam. In the end, there was still nothing to do but "cut and run", and in the meantime we had lost and destroyed countless lives on both sides. And now we have "normal" relations with Vietnam. Can Iraq be "saved"? I fear not, at least not by us. I suspect we've created an unstable breeding ground for a generation of terrorists. The only hope to "save" Iraq is the Iraqi people. The conservative principle of self determination still rings true. Too bad there are no conservatives in the White House. John
