Yes, but that was not Kerry's point. His point was that if we buy our oil elsewhere, however fungible the oil may be, then we will minimize contact with the Arabs. This is the point you quoted:

That does not seem like an idiotic point to me. This point you're making now is about the price of oil. That is another matter entirely. Had Kerry been talking about dependency on ME oil, yes, that would be idiotic. But what is idiotic about the point he made that you said was idiotic? I still don't follow that.
