Tom, fwiw I'm not big on voting.
But I plan on voting this time. I'm tired of tunnel vision politics, my way or no way, fear mongering, forgetting the fact that we are supposed to have separation of church and state, breaking into the bank and stealing the public blind all the while blaming it on someone else, ...for starters.
I also admire someone like yourself that continually seeks out new knowledge, likes to know what is going on around you, and pays attention. The folk that say I can learn nothing by this guy, or hearing that, or whatever ... are kind of a pain in the ass imo. I guess they feel they are so far above us mere mortals that what anyone else has to say or offer is just claptrap.
I used to be a little like the folk I just mentioned. I remember my first day in history class in college. We had to name a number of countries, seas, etc., on a map. Many of us, especially me, were a little embarrassed at the result. By the time I finished that class I had become more of a history buff, and I decided being ignorant is a choice, mainly for the lazy.
Besides, reading, learning, etc. is fun.
The internet imo has done wonders for the human race, and is one reason I am positive going forward. It makes it much more difficult for the fear monger and tunnel vision leaders to survive.
Personally I don't think GWB has a chance in hell come November. He has short comings, but he also has to pack that baggage along by the name of Cheney. |
