There really weren't any serious slams at Bush. Certainly some indirect jibes.

Obama is a really good public speaker. You don't think so?

I don't know if he's going anywhere beyond the U.S. Senate. Once upon a time, people thought Julian Bond had really good potential. But he never really amounted to anything. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The Senate is a very strange place in which to operate.

A good friend of mine is Obama's personal lawyer. They both went to Harvard Law School. My friend says Obama is a genius and very personable. He certainly came across that way to me the other day.

Frankly, I'd never heard of Obama until a few months ago--and this is so even though I live in Illinois and am rather politically aware.
