He simply won the democratic primary, not the senate seat?
He has a long way to go before winning this senate. There is major Republican opposition and Illinois likes to balance their senatorial representatives with a Democrat and Republican.

Obama was given $50 million of free publicity by the media moguls because they are obviously pushing him for the Senate seat. These corporate media conglomerates are allowed to give this free publicity to their favorite candidate without having to report this contribution to the election ethics committee. It's as if these corporation are above the law. If an individual makes a fifty dollar contribution, it has to be reported but these conglomerates can give a week of free national publicity without ever having to report this contribution. It was not just a matter of reporting his speech, but the media networks have purposely focused and replayed his speech dozens of times.
