The Democratic Party is in a quandry ..........

.......... The public supports the war in Iraq, regardless of the reason for it. It's become a matter of national honor.

Basically, the Democratic party was only lukewarm behind it in the first place. Again, regardless of the reason for it. There was a lot of confusion back in 2002. We were all really pretty stunned by 9/11 and our failure to capture that ass bin Laden.

We're all still pretty much in shock over 9/11 and very reluctant to engage in a leadership debate. The nation is pretty committed to "resolving" this Iraq mess. The Democratic Party can't go against that. There's simply not public support for an irrational withdrawal.

I can't believe people think that having gone into Iraq was a good idea. I thought it was horrible idea from the get-go. It's been too costly in too many respects. I think that many Democrats feel they were cowed by the administration and the public to go along with Bush back in 2002. I don't know if Bush was sincere or not back then. The bottom line, though, is that I simply don't trust him.

I feel we need a change of leadership. But, what the hell, I've always been a Democrat. I particularly didn't like the tax cuts for the wealthy, especially when the Republicans wanted to run an expensive war. I could go on and on about the fundamental reasons why I support the Democrats. But I'll leave that to another day.
