Many investors participate in open-end regional funds or the closed-end country funds -- as opposed to purchasing the individual foreign stocks. For reasons of safety and professional portfolio management, among others. It appears that most on this board invest in the individual foreign securities.

Additionally, U.S. investors, naturally, have more knowledge of their domestic market, which has proven to be a juggernaut over the past 15 years. They see no compelling reasons to concern themselves with overseas markets. (The overwhelming number of participants on this board would be comprised of U.S. residents.) Many viewing the content here just may feel they do not have conversational knowledge of the topics.

Would more investors decide to participate overseas, background information on foreign economies is readily available over the WWW; but current and historical data on foreign equities is of limited availability. Information that is available can be quite costly and is often incomplete. It would be difficult to prepare oneself sufficiently.

My opinion, Kerlan.
