Hiya Just checking in from the public library. Lovely day here, so we'll probably wander around down town before we catch the bus back home.
I think, I hope, I mentioned that King Duncan from Macbeth fame is buried at the end of my street under a Shell station. I find that priceless really. Poor old Duncan, entombed under the apron of a quicky mart and gas station.
The kids are raging to get on the computer, but I won't let them just yet :-) They should pick up some nice old fashioned books first. I read the Full Cupboard of Life last night- it's just as marvelous as his other books. Toast by Slater was fantastic- am saving it for you, and will also send you BuddhaDa- which is written in phonetic Glaswegian dialect- very interesting, plus it's a great story- was shortlisted for all sorts of awards. I think you'll like it very much. It's totally our sort of book. I liked Lipman- Inn at Lake Devine- and then I bought "Q" which looks rather interesting. Must read Down and Out in London and Paris first- that's the book club selection for September (Toast is August)- and Scoop by Waugh was for July.
Food is fabulous here. Went to a lovely Indian restaurant, and had something called honey chicken which was fantastic. Also had Korma and Tikka Masala. Not too price either, so that was nice- with the exchange rate so high, prices can be rather nasty- only downside really- save for the demon dryer. The washer and I have come to a detente- and I use the clothesline so that I do not have to deal with the dryer from Hell. Satan's little in indoor appliance. Must go. Kids are restless. I think I probably ought to feed them too- we kind of raced out of the house today, and I think we forgot to eat.
Luckily there is a super bakery quite near :-)
Take care, I miss you, will try to get to the library often. B is being terribly smug about computer access. Will have to keep an eye on him. He loves the homemade dinners and all the cleaning I do out of sheer lack of access to a computer. Must find new and pointless ways to waste time. Shopping at Tesco (a pale version of Costco) is one way. Am confident I will find other ways.
Kiss kiss- will report in as soon as possible. |
