Robert: Accepted. I did not realize the entire board, but two, resigned. If Jobs brings bach his proprietary stance, and implements it the way he ontimates, and can see only higher margins and dwindling sales for Apple.
However in the Sept issue of Mac User on page 22 there is an article called Apples clone order.. Current licences pay between $80 and $200 per OS licence. This is OK at the low end and is just under 10% of the cheapest clones($1000, +,-) however at the high end it falls to around 5% of the stripped down fast system at around $4000. So I can see upping the top end to $300. This would do the job. If you make a $10,000 system, the heart is $3000-4000 and the rest is memory, video cards, hard drives and minotors, which Apple does not make and needs no royalty on.(Apple just names others high end monitors) Jobs wants to have a range from $200 to $1000. This would absolutely kill the clones, and cannot be implemented.
I reccomend the mag to all, it is also online at
macuser.com

Another good read is Mac Addict. The Sept issue is full of guerilla stuff about attacking WIntels, and promoting Macs.
they are also at:
macaddict.com

Looked into the processors. Apparently the processor dice are for sale from Motorola, and others, and so the fast special processors with assorted caches are dice planted on carriers with the cache etc on board along with speed ratio increment methods.(on the carrier, or just board jumper??) By picking ones made with the 0.18 micron process can be run quick and less power, to make the faster chipsets. Why does Apple not do this??
