while i understand your point, i think that is a stretch.

going to war in defense of your country, realizing the war is unjust, and speaking out against atrocities are not necessarily all in conflict with eachother.

you can be for defending your country, then go to war in support of your country, realize the war is unjust while you are fighting, and all at same time be against atrocities committed during the war.
